Zwas Community Impact Interns

Annie Liang is a double-major in English and Classics. She is also on the pre-law track. Annie is passionate about social justice and civil rights advocacy, and she will intern at The Remedy Project during the summer. 

Rosie Juma is a rising senior, studying Africana Studies and Education Studies. Her interest in liberatory education has led her to pursue an internship at the Justice in Education Initiative, where she will be providing education opportunities to people who are impacted by incarceration.

Manavi Sinha academic interests include memory studies, cultural aesthetics, and physics. This summer she will be interning at Art Lives Here, a nonprofit amplifying the voices of underrepresented artists in the Harlem community through public installations.

Alina Johnson, originally from Seattle, is a rising senior at Barnard College double majoring in biology and American history on the pre-med track. She is currently interning at Project Stay, a Washington Heights-based organization focused on providing free sexual healthcare to queer and high-risk communities, including those in transitional housing, individuals engaged in sex work, and people who have recently been released from incarceration. Through this work, she hopes to combat stigma about sexual health, reduce systemic inequities, and advance social justice in healthcare.

Olivia Toevs is a Junior at Barnard studying Psychology and Urban Teaching. She plans to become a NY public school teacher after graduating. Her internship is at the Salvadori Center where she will build STEAM curricula for students in Morningside heights and the greater NYC area.
